Double Delight: MCC Crush Barcelona Again to Complete T20 Sweep

5 Sep 2026

ECCL T20 2026 — Game 2 | 5 September 2026 | La Manga Club

If the first T20 showed what Madrid Cricket Club are capable of, the second was confirmation of something more: this side is relentless. Facing a Barcelona outfit who had already been beaten by 82 runs earlier in the day, Madrid showed no mercy in the afternoon match — posting an imposing 229/6 and then skittling Barcelona for 156/8 to win by 73 runs.

Madrid Innings — 229/6 (20 overs)

Sumon Hossain (28 off 19, 4×4 2×6) and Utkarsh Bhatt (34 off 25, 5×4 1×6) put on a rapid opening stand, before two quick wickets — including Revat Naidoo for a duck — brought Gourav Saha and Imran Siddque together. Saha played the anchor role to perfection, retiring on 54 off 33 (7×4, 2×6), and the platform he set allowed Siddque to explode.

⭐ Imran Siddque — 62 off 34 balls (5×4, 5×6) | SR: 182.35

  • Caught & bowled by Ram Kranti — but only after 62 stunning runs.
  • Back-to-back star performances in the T20 double-header.

Jon Woodward was run out for 0 soon after, but Anand Kaul (2*) and Prabin Bensam (6*) kept the board ticking in the closing overs. An enormous extras haul of 43 (37 wides, 4 no-balls) also contributed significantly. Total: 229/6 off 20 overs.

Barcelona Innings — 156/8 (20 overs)

Barcelona's chase began dangerously. Ram Kranti (57 off 30, 5×4, 5×6) was in ferocious form, threatening to drag Barcelona into the game with a strike rate of 190. But Deepak Kumar Lamba (2 wickets) removed the threat early enough, and once the partnership with Vrishab Kandral was broken, wickets began to fall regularly.

🎳 Jon Woodward — 3 wickets for 16 runs in 3 overs | Econ: 5.33

  • Woodward's bowling proved decisive in the middle overs.
  • Removed Shriram Bhosale (c), Antriksh Kanwar (st), and Omar Ashfaq (c).
  • A superb captain's contribution with both bat and ball.

Sumon Hossain (1 wicket) and Deepak Kumar Lamba (2 wickets) shared the other wickets between them. Barcelona were restricted to 156/8 from their 20 overs — 73 runs short of the target.

Fall of Wickets — Barcelona

  • 1-76 (R Kranti, 6.4) | 2-93 (V Kandral, 8.5) | 3-108 (C Raghavan, 11.1)
  • 4-120 (U Razi, 12.2) | 5-130 (S Bhosale, 13.3) | 6-139 (A Kanwar, 15.1)
  • 7-139 (S Sathyashankar, 15.2) | 8-139 (O Ashfaq, 15.4)
